After decades of enduring world wars and a communist regime, Croatia became an autonomous country in the early 1990s. Because of its tumultuous history, Croatian wines were not available here in the US until the past few decades. Although this is a relatively young nation state, their winemaking traditions go back thousands of years with just over 100 indigenous grape varieties. This wine is made of the ancient grape Škrlet (shkir-let) and is produced by Voštinić-Klasnić - a winery founded in 1936 - that is home to some of the oldest Škrlet vines in existence. Enticing aromas of pineapple and tropical flowers introduce a crisp, refreshing palate boasting flavors of white peach and juicy mango. Just like Summer in a glass!
