Teutonic Wine Company, based out of Portland, is owned and run by Barnaby Tuttle, a Portland native that fell in love with the German style of winemaking, particularly from the Mosel region. In fact, ‘Bergspitze’ means ‘mountain top’ in German. To imitate this style, these vines are grown atop a 1250-foot peak at the Laurel Vineyard. There, the cooler climate allows for a longer time on the vine without over-ripening, leading to fresh, juicy, and complex flavors. The vines are also dry-farmed, encouraging deep rooting to showcase earth and minerality on the palate. Barnaby strives to create delicious, lower alcohol, higher acid, food friendly wines, and this Pinot Noir does not disappoint.
