The Selbach family are newcomers to the Mosel wine scene, as their family winery is only 400 years old, in a region that has been home to some of the world’s great white wines for over 2000 years. Here, in the middle Mosel, their steeply sloped vineyards are composed predominantly of prized slate soils, providing a core of bright minerality in their wines. Grosses Gewächs is a term in German wine that can be compared to the French Grand Cru -- AKA it’s the best of the best. Perfectly ripe stone fruit, with a hint of salt, is present both on the nose and the palate that stands well with the richness of this wine. This would be a treat to cellar or drink now!
