Quinta do Javail family farm dates back to the 17th century; the Menedes family took over in 1982 with a passion for indigenous Douro grape varieties. Crazy Javali is a biodynamic beauty; the grapes are hand-harvested and spontaneously fermented in concrete and inox tanks with some whole bunch added in for character. After fermentation, the wine is aged in concrete for a year. Coming from 20-year-old vines this bottle has a light raspberry color, a vibrant nose of red berries, and youth. It is Antonia Jr.’s desire for drinkability plus youth that makes this vintage a Crazy good one. This spry bottle balances lightness, red berries, and uncompromised flavor with only 11% alcohol in each sip.
