In Valais, they call Chasselas by another name, Fendant - stylistically, meant to quench your thirst after a day of exploring. Many Swiss vineyards are separated into tiny parcels that are jealously guarded and harvested by hand. Because of this, not much Swiss wine makes it out of the country, and often when it does, the price is markedly high. This wine is a delightful exception created by Provins, a relatively large cooperative in Valais that makes up about 10% of Swiss wine production, to export Swiss wine for a reasonable price without sacrificing quality.  ‘L’Alpage’ is textured but delicate with mouth-watering acidity, aromas of alpine flowers, apricot on the palate, and a terroir-driven backbone.

Pairing: Raclette, Fondue, or a cheese plate
