Graziano Pra is more well-known for his white wines, as he was one of the winemakers responsible for rehabilitating the reputation of Soave and the Garganega grape in the 1980’s. In 2001, however, he purchased 3 vineyards with an eye for red wine production. Located in the Mezzane and Tregnano at around 500 meters elevation, these soils were formed from glacial runoff and contain a high percentage of active limestone giving Prà’s reds have a bright freshness and mineral core. Their Valpolicella is vibrant and rosy, with savory herbs, chalk dust and exotic herbal tea leaves. Juicy yet savory and salty giving way to tart wild berries and inner florals. The long and spicy finale tapers off with a peppery edge.
