Farming: practicing organic
Winemaker Michele d’Aprix has stepped out of her comfort zone in Bordeaux to produce small batches of wines from Southern Rhone. ‘Maz Caz’, meaning ‘crazy in a good way’, reflects her travelling, Bohemian spirit and is organically farmed, fermented in stainless steel and left unoaked. The grapes are farmed in Costières de Nimes in the Rhône Valley, where Michele loves to get lost, and where Mediterranean influences have a strong-hold in the vineyards. The Maz Caz Blanc boasts surprising freshness for a blend of two grapes known for producing fuller bodied wines, but in Michele’s hands a lively, zesty wine is brought forth. Green apple along with ripe melon and a hint of white flowers create balance and a delightfully mouth-watering sipper.
