Giovanni Correggia isn't shy in admitting it: this wine isn't for everyone. At his tasting room, some guests can't finish a glass, while others load up by the car-full. Brachetto is a super aromatic variety that is most closely associated with the sweet and fizzy wines from Acqui. The sandy soils of Roero amp up those aromatics even further. Correggia's 'Anthos' shows intense orange blossom, wild strawberry, and raspberry on the nose that gives an impression of sweetness, even though this is a bone-dry wine. It is light-bodied, vibrant, fresh, spicy and floral, like a red wine equivalent of dry Gewurztraminer. Soft tannins make it a good pairing option for spicy dishes from Italy and beyond. Drink it chilled.
