The Mas Gomà estate, founded in 1724, has been owned by the Vendell family for over five generations. In 2009, Joan Vendrell (the son) and Joan Manel Vendrell (the father) assumed control of the estate ushering in a new era of winemaking. Today, they practice biodynamic agriculture and aim to leave future generations with a healthier vineyard and planet. They only use the oldest vines on the estate to make their wine, and in the cellar everything is fermented with native yeasts, and little to no sulfur is added. ‘La Planta’ is unfined and unfiltered and leaves some of “the mother” in the bottle after disgorgement. This creates a rich, creamy texture with notes of fresh bread, yeasty richness, and white florals. A perfect bridge between traditional and new age wine.
