Region: Alto Adige, Italy Grape(s): Pinot Blanc Winemaker: Martin Foradori Hofstatter Drinks Best: Now - 2 Years
The Hofstatter winery takes its name from Josef Hofstatter who founded the operation in 1907. But it was not until long-time employee Konrad Oberhofer married into the family and took over operations in the 1940s that the estate starting bottling its own wine and producing on single vineyard selections. The estate saw another period of growth when the Foradoris (legendary winemakers) married into the family. This brought a collection of great vineyards and experience into the fold. This Pinot Blanc is a stunning example of how the Northern Italian landscape produces tremendous white wine. Well textured with notes of white melon, pear, red apple and subtle floralundertones.
