The Alessandria family has been making wine in Barolo since 1830, which makes them one of the area’s truly historic estates. The winemaking here is equally classic, with the wines matured in large, old cask. Verduno is known to yield the most ethereal expressions of Nebbiolo in the Barolo zone, and Monvigliero vineyard is the crown jewel of Verduno. It has been one of the most coveted fruit sources over the past ten years, but Alessandria has been farming this fruit for generations. Supremely elegant and wonderfully complex, the wine shows crunchy red fruit, mint, and blood orange, with silky, fine-grained tannins.
