Domaine Ostertag was founded in 1966 by André Ostertag. After training in Burgundy, he returned to his family’s estate in Epfig. In 1997, he transitioned to biodynamic farming and focusing on manual labor and minimal intervention in the cellar. The vineyard for this wine is known as a ‘Pflanzer’, or nursery, due to its fertile soil and often being used for vine propogation. This Riesling by the domaine ages on lees in stainless steel for almost a year and completes malolactic conversion. Ripe peach, candied citrus, and warm spices are present on the nose complemented by a long, dry finish on the palate. This is Grand Cru level tasty!
