Unlike many producers in the southwest of France that work exclusively with younger vines, Michel Duffour is blessed with Colombard and Ugni Blanc vines planted by his father in the 1960’s on their estate in the small town of Lagraulet-du-Gers. Although he crafts a regional favorite sprit Armagnac from some of his grapes, he reserves much of this old vine material, combined with Gros Manseng he planted in the 1980’s, to create a regional white wine with unexpected depth of flavor. Clean and eminently quaffable, his Gascogne blanc features aromas and flavors of lime zest and canned pineapple accented by notes of parsley and chives that leads to a refreshing finish.
