Domaine de la Madone was founded in the 1960s, just south of Beaujolais’ cru villages. Brothers Olivier and Bruno Bererd farm hillside vineyards that they describe as “perilously steep.” These vineyards rise to some of the highest elevations in the region at 1,600 - 2,000 feet above sea level. Here, Gamay grows in decomposed pink granite, which contributes to making Madone’s wines some of the top in the Beaujolais-Villages appellation. Oliver and Bruno source the same old vine material they use for they ‘regular’ Beaujolais-Villages, 50+ years old on average, with many 75-100 years old creating Nouveau of character that has great depth of flavor, yet maintains elegance and delicate balance. Fun, fruity, fresh, and the perfect match for spending time with friends and family.
