Region: Aprémont, Savoie, France Grape(s): Jacquère Winemaker: Willy Blanc Drinks Best: Now
Cool mountain breeze is what first comes to mind with this wine. Not only for its Alpine location, but also for its refreshing, light, and airy character. Willy Blanc is a fellow wine shop owner in the mountains of Aprémont where the rocky hills are home to his roughly 12 acres of grapes. He farms his land traditionally with native grapes that are adapted to the cooler climate, like this Jacquère. Citrus drifts from nose to palate. The wine is encouraged to go through malolactic, giving it a touch of lemon curdflavor, but the dry, crisp finish brightens to perpetuate the fresh and clean nature of the wine.
Pairings: In and with cheese fondue - preferably made with a regional Gruyère
