The Berthenet family are pioneers in southern Burgundy appellation of Montagny. They were the first to use sustainable and organic methods in the vineyard such as growing cover crops between rows and limiting their use of chemical sprays. In fact, they saw such a substantial improvement in their fruit they withdrew from the local winemaking cooperative to produce their own wine. This particular cuvée is very special as they own just a scant acre of old vine Aligoté planted back in 1950. Ten months of lees aging gives this wine great texture that contrasts beautifully with a tart green apple and lemon zest fruit profile and racy mineral tension.
