After centuries of being mostly noted for crafting Armagnac, a winemaking Renaissance happened in the 1970’s when quality wine began being produced from the local indigenous grapes as well as the famous spirit. Today both occupy space in the fine dining Pantheon, with Côtes de Gascogne wine being synonymous with light, fresh, crisp white wines. The area’s prime location between the Atlantic Ocean and the towering Pyrenees mountains make for idyllic farming, allowing the vibrant aperitif wines to flourish. Expect lime and pear notes accompanied by a lively mineral finish.
