Grignolino is one of several specialty grapes that can be found primarily in the Monferrato hills of Piedmont. With twice the seeds of the average grape, Grignolino would make a mouth-puckeringly tannic wine if you gave it a full length maceration. Because of this, the majority of producers - Braida included - pursue a short maceration that results in a light-bodied, pale red wine with just a dusting of fine tannins. The wine is aged in stainless steel to keep its fruit front and center. The wine features enticing wild strawberry, cranberry, black tea, and gently floral aromas. Drink it with a light chill in the fall and winter, or a full chill in the spring and summer.
