Bodegas Federico was founded in 1986 when Federico Fernandez took over his family’s 70 acre estate in the heart of Ribera del Duero.  Federico’s winemaking style leans toward the traditional side of Ribera; the wines are floral, lower in alcohol, and are aged in American oak as opposed to the French barriques that are more fashionable with modernist winemakers. The ‘Roble’ offers a smoky nose with raspberries, plums, cherries and spice. On the palate the wine shows its complexity along with dark berry and more smoky, grilled fruit notes. It flaunts delicious, bright fruit and medium-weight without extraction.
