Ameztoi’s family vineyards, located just outside the small fishing town of Getaria in the Bay of Biscay, have been overlooking the Atlantic Ocean for seven generations. Mostly known for their bright, crisp, and effervescent whites of Txakolina, they also make a small quantity of rosé and red. Their ‘Stimatum’ - or ‘esteemed’ - is made entirely from 100-year-old vines of the red grape Hondarribi Beltza planted in limestone soil lending to the fresh and exhilarating minerality of this wine. Red raspberry fruit pops with a delicately spritzy finish due to bottling with some carbonation. It’s like no other red we’ve tried, especially from Spain!
