Region: Pfalz, Germany Grape(s): Riesling Drinks Best: Now - 3 Years
The Christmann family has been making wine in the Pfalz for seven generations now, but they can trace their roots back to the 1500’s as tenant farmers. The area enjoys a climate similar to Alsace, warmer and drier than much of the surrounding area and Germany overall, due to the rain shadow effect off the Vosges Mountains. These growing conditions can produce some of the world’s finest Riesling. Hand harvesting, gentle pressing, and extended lees contact result in an aromatic, bright style with notes of lemon blossom, tart yellow apples, and focused acidity with a medium-bodied and textured palate.
Pairings: shrimp tempura with a spicy mayo and scallions to garnish
