This wine is the joint project between two California industry legends and friends - homegrown sommelier Patrick Cappiello and veteran winemaker Pax Mahle. After taking circuitous routes through the food and wine industry, they joined forces to create wines from small, family-owned, organically farmed vineyards, that are approachable and balanced. Their ‘Skull’ red features juicy, dark fruit from the Petite Sirah, and Zinfandel, but the addition of one California’s most esoteric yet traditional grapes, Mission, adds freshness to the blend. The grapes see carbonic maceration, creating the sensation of bursting blackberries and plums on the palate. It’s fun, plush, and deliciously drinkable.
