Torre dei Beati’s organic vineyard sits in a small, deserted parcel of fertile land in Loreto Aprutino, Abruzzo where Fausto Albanesi is crafting deliciously traditional and unique wines of the region. In a world of light rosés coming from the south of France, this is a dark-colored, drinks more like a light red than rosé, traditional Italian rosato. There’s a reason this wine is held back a vintage – the dark Montepulciano grapes are softened by an extra year of aging, allowing the full, juicy flavors of overripe strawberry and crunchy cherry to shine through on a medium-bodied palate. Zesty acidity, along with hints of blood orange and red florals, complements the wine’s soft tannins on the finish.
