Winemaker Mike Lucia has been involved in the California wine community since the early 90’s. After working with several reputable wineries Mike began his own side project in 2014 - Rootdown,  referring to the effect of soil on wine, as all of his fruit is sourced from organic vineyards and produced with a hands-off approach. Becuase of the drought, the 2021 vintage is primarily syrah. The portuguese varitals underwent full carbonic maceration to produce a light, fresh, and everyday drinking wine. A delicate palate with notes of ripe raspberry and crunchy cherries is followed with a juicy, tart finish.
