Manoir de la Tête Rouge ‘Bagatelle’ 2021
Region: Saumur, Loire Valley, France
Grape(s): Cabernet Franc
Drinks Best: Now - 2 Years

Mallory's Notes:
This Cabernet Franc is exactly what I want to drink this time of year. Produced from certified organic and biodynamic vineyards in the Loire Valley, one of my favorite winemaking regions, ‘Bagatelle’ is a beautiful representation of a natural wine that still drinks clean, elegant, and varietally correct. It checks off a lot of boxes for me - made in concrete rather than oak with native yeast fermentation and bottled unfined and unfiltered. The nose has notes of ripe raspberry, black peppercorn, soft earthiness, with the perfect amount of pyrazine. The palate is on the lighter, fresher side for Cab Franc with vibrant acidity and softly structured tannins that are perfectly balanced by notes of red plum, cherry pit, juicy raspberry, and hardy herbs. This is a crowd-pleasing style perfect to bring to your next holiday party or to enjoy on its’ own after a long day of Christmas shopping.

What's Cooking?

Perfectly cooked ribeye, scalloped potatoes, and a winter salad with pomegranate, orange, pecans, and feta

What do I like to drink?

Now that it's cooling off, a little, I am drinking fuller bodied whites like unoaked Chardonnay as well as all of the Cremant and Champagne I can afford! Red wine finds its' way home with me more frequently this time of year as well - Gamay, Syrah, and Cabernet Franc are my vibe this time of year. And I can't forget my #1 fave - orange wine - the PERFECT wine for Fall and Winter.
