While it’s impossible to trace the beginning of the ‘natural wine’ movement to any one producer, there can be little debate that Jean Foillard, along with three of his friends and colleagues in Beaujolais, were absolutely pioneers and paragons of the movement. This wine is sourced from a specific 20 acre area of sandstone soils and 80+ year old Gamay vines - the makings for a deep, complex, and yet refined Beaujolais. Plum and black cherry liqueur aromas bring you head first into a palate filled with lush, macerated cherries that finish with soft, fine tannins. It sees some time in old barrel and large foudre, allowing the wine to breathe, but this is one you can keep in your own cellar to save!
