Franz Hirtzberger, whose family estate in the western Wachau town of Spitz, is one of the pillars of Austrian wine. With just a handful of the top, dedicated vintners in the region, he brought Austrian wine, and more specifically wines of the Wachau, onto the world stage by forming Vinea Wachau. This Gruner is lush with a hint of sweetness and flinty minerality. Flavors of juicy white nectarine and yellow plum round it out.
