Domaine Saint Damien 'Le Dix' Rouge 2022

‘Le Dix’ rouge is a fascinating yet easily enjoyable blend of two rather unique grape varietals: Caladoc, a cross of Grenache and Malbec; and Marselan, a cross of Grenache and Cabernet Sauvignon. Although St. Damien is located in the Rhône Valley right outside Gigondas with vineyard holdings throughout much of the Southern Rhône, to allow themselves to experiment with these grapes, the wine is labeled as a humble ‘Vin de France’, as these newer grapes are not recognized in the Rhone appellation. Waves of ripe blackberries, earth, and black pepper flow across the palate is this fantastic bistro red.
