Region: Côtes de Gascogne, Southwest, France Grape(s): 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, 15% Tannat Winemaker: Michel Duffour Drinks Best: Now - 2 Years
Michel is the newest generation to take over winemaking duties at the family estate. His grandfather focused on making Armagnac, a local variety of brandy, but his father—Nicolas Duffour—expanded the operation to focus on producing table wines in the 1980s. Nicolas planted a host of new grapes suited not only for growing in the region, but for blending together to produce wines of remarkable balance and depth of flavor. Michel continues both his grandfather and father’s legacies of producing both spirits and wine. Easy-going and ripe with black fruit, this is a juicy little blend with a hint of tannin to cap it off.
