Domaine de Piaugier is situated in and around the village of Sablet, just a galette’s throw north from Gigondas.  Here is where Jean-Marc Autran is fortunate enough to own a large number of small plots where he produces single village cuvées that truly express the region. The unique terroir of Sablet - red clay and red sandstones with a warming, Mediterranean climate - separates itself from other Cotes du Rhone Villages nearby with its distinct robust flavors. Terrific earthy aromas of dried herbs and purple flowers stand out on the nose and meld perfectly into wild black raspberry and more garrigue on the palate.
