Off the coast of Naples in southern Italy lies the island of Ischia, a popular destination for its beaches. But the island has another side, one of volcanic rock and steep, windy coasts. Three generations of Mazzellas have tended the vineyards in this stunning yet perilous terrain. Like the Mazellas themselves, the Biancolella grape thrives in these extreme conditions.  Typically a blending grape in Campania, Ischia is one of few wine regions that recognize it as worthy of being a single varietal wine. On the nose it wafts notes of white flowers and white melon, while on the palate ripe, tropical and stonefruits are matched by notes of chamomile and hazelnut.
