The Brda winegrowing region, known as the ‘Tuscany of Slovenia’ for its rolling hillsides and Mediterranean-Alpine location, is home to Edi and Aleks Simcic, who craft traditional Slovenian wines. They are renowned for producing unique, age-worthy wines from their 30-acre estate. Their Rebula (aka Ribolla Gialla) undergoes 10 months of fermentation in oak, followed by 9 months of bottle aging before release. It's clear that Edi and Aleks took their time with this wine—it's rich and creamy with powerful aromas of honeysuckle, and apricot, balanced by impressive freshness. The palate is silky smooth, featuring notes of bruised peach and nectarine with a hint of salted almond and a vibrant lemon zest finish.
