Based in the premier cru village of Villedommange, husband-wife team Pierre and Daniella Fresne farm 15 acres of vines, just as Pierre’s family has done for 180 years. The couple are the first in the family to estate-bottle wines; after selling grapes to producers such as Bollinger and Krug, they started bottling wine with the 2008 vintage. Their vineyards are certified organic as of 2018. The ‘Spagyrie’ is raised in stainless steel tank with minimal sulfur additions. It shows aromas of raspberry cordial, hazelnut, and biscotti lead into a vibrant, full-flavored palate with notes of macerated strawberry and cherry, complemented by a richness reminiscent of freshly toasted bread and a long, structured finish.
