It’s impossible to overstate the importance of Marcel Lapierre in terms of influencing winemaking in Beaujolais, France, or even the world. As one of the original ‘Gang of Four’ nearly half a century ago, Marcel helped to spearhead more natural, organic winemaking in an era when chemical fertilizers and pesticides were heavily relied upon. Today his children Mathieu and Camille continue their father’s legacy. This wine comes from the original family estate in the cru of Morgon, and shows complexity that belies its easy-going nature: joyous red cherry fruit, a hint of licorice and a touch of Burgundian earth.
