Pablo Matallana is a young vintner rooted in the Canary Island of Tenerife who is dedicated to organic viticulture and the meticulous craftsmanship of the diverse grape varieties and distinct terroir of the Canaries. His La Bardona line of wines are made from organically farmed, old vines located in the north of Tenerife. ‘Viñas del Norte’ is sourced from 100 year old, high elevation Listán Negro vines made with minimal intervention and only small additions of SO2. Delicate aromas of smoke, a testament to this wine’s volcanic origins, mingle with the alluring scent of fresh cherries. On the palate, it bursts with the vivacious crunch of cranberries and tart raspberries interwoven with savory herbs and a vibrant, juicy finish.
