This is a classic California incarnation of a Bordeaux Blend from Jesse Katz, a young rising star in the California wine scene. The name Aperture is an homage to his father, the famous photographer, Andy Katz. Father and son traveled the world together on photo assignments, enjoying great wines along the way. Jesse sources grapes from the best cool-climate, hillside spots in California. This wine is unfined, unfiltered and intensely concentrated. Half of the wine was aged in new French oak barrels, adding toasty vanilla notes to a complex palette of flavors and textures. Expect velvety tannins, chocolate-covered cherries, tobacco leaf and olive tapenade
all balanced with refreshing acidity to complement rich dishes.
