The Ferrando winery was founded in 1890 and remains the benchmark producer of the tiny Carema DOC and the greater Canavese growing area. Erbaluce is the signature white grape of northern Piedmont, and it achieves its greatest heights in and around the village of Caluso. This mid-weight (bordering on full-bodied) white features fresh and inviting green apple, pear, lightly herby and floral notes, and pleasing minerality. Enjoy it now, but don’t be afraid to hide some bottles away for several years and track its evolution. Minerality becomes more pronounced, and a waxy richness emerges.
