Francesco Annesanti inherited a small plot of grapevines from his grandfather in the Umbrian countryside that he now farms with organic and biodynamic techniques. This biodiverse property is also planted with cereal grains, legumes, and olive groves that Francesco’s father tends to. In 2012, they converted the old stable on the estate into a winery where all of their wines are vinified. ‘Il Salto del Cieco’ is a blend of Barbera and Merlot that is made without the use of oak and is bottled during the waning phase of the moon on days with clear skies. This is a great introduction to natural wines with savory and earthy aromas that lead to a medium-bodied palate with plenty of dark, juicy fruit and black pepper spice on the finish.
