Pierre-Marie Chermette has created a wine drinker’s Nouveau. Much like his regular and cru cuvées of Gamay - and unlike lesser Beaujolais - he does not chaptalize - add sugar - , uses longer fermentation, matures in old barrels for one month, and bottles without filtration. That’s some serious work for a seasonal wine. For this old vine cuvée - his premium Nouveau - a single plot of 35 to 85 year old Gamay vines is sourced, lending depth and complexity to this fun and fresh wine. There’s a limited amount, especially of these large format bottles, so grab it while you can to kick off your holiday season right!
