Tenuta Casabianca’s agriturismo is surrounded by two nature reserves, just south of the Chianti Classico zone and separated from the Montalcino zone by the Ombrone River. The wines of Chianti Colli Senesi (“the hills of Siena”) are noted for being easy drinking, but the presence of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot in this blend gives it a bit more backbone and dark fruit than is typical of the area. Temperatures here are fairly mild, and cooling breezes from the Mediterranean help retain freshness. The resulting wine has juicy red cherry, wild blackberry, and a clean, fruity finish accented by just a touch of earth.
