The Veneto in Northeastern Italy is protected from harsh weather by the Alps to the North and the climate is tempered by the Adriatic Sea to the East. This geography creates a temperate climate with the ideal growing conditions for Pinot Grigio. For this pink-skinned grape, it’s easy for bulk producers to harvest in mass and in turn create light and insipid wines. However, those showing a bit more care are rewarded with a refreshing wine that can show pleasant varietal character as well.
