Steve Matthiasson, nominated for the prestigous James Beard Award, believes that winemaking is a ‘natural extension of farming.’ He and his family own and work on seven vineyards in Napa Valley and Sonoma using site-specific methods of farming to develop intense fruits. Careful restraint is practiced in the cellar to produce classic expressions of well-known varietals, as well as a few rarer ones. His rosé is whole cluster pressed and is aged in stainless steel barrels. Crisp, natural acidity along with clean citrus notes make this a very food friendly wine, but also one that can pair well with just a porch and a rocking chair. Either way, this is an ideal patio sipper.
