The French term Jolie-Laide loosely translates into ‘unconventionally beautiful.’ That’s precisely what winemaker Scott Schultz is going for with his wines – sourced from grapes that are not the conventional workhorses of California, and crafting wines of beauty. The 2022 Pinot Gris is sourced from two very unique but different vineyards in California. This wine’s soft pink color comes from gently crushing the grapes by foot followed by a few days of cold soaking prior to fermentation. Beautifully aromatic notes of cantaloupe, stone fruit, and bergamot lead to a silky, lush palate with perfectly balanced acidity - another outstanding vintage from Jolie-Laide.
