The ‘Heretiques’ is a classic “bistro wine” that’s loaded with more character and personality than we usually find at this price. Unlike many wines of this ilk, Marie-Pierre Iche and oenologist Laurent Batlle don’t use the young vines on the estate for their inexpensive cuvee, but instead source Carignan and Syrah vines that are 40 to over 100 years old. Half of the wine is fermented in neutral barrels while half of the wine is made by carbonic maceration, which creates a wine that is plump with ripe berry aromas and flavors. Medium-bodied, this delicious value finishes with a nice lift of herbs and peppery spice.

Pairings:
Steak frites with garlic aioli
