In the rarest of instances, wineries have the luxury of pulling from generational knowledge, enabling them to capitalize on literally several lifetimes worth of experience. Such is the case at Dönnhoff, where Cornelius Dönnhoff learned at the heels of his legendary father Hermann. Together, they’ve made some of the most compelling, unique white wines in the world. Their Spätlese is a single vineyard site for them and is made from the lightest of late harvest grapes to ensure a rich, slightly off dry wine but still maintaining bright acid. We found this palate to be filled with dried orange colored fruit like apricot and mandarins. The finish is lush and long on this wine. Enjoy it now or keep for a few years!
