Julien Sunier did not grow up in the wine business, but he did grow up in the heart of French wine country, and this proximity is important. His parent’s family business had in a regular customer none other than Cristophe Roumier, one of the most famed and prominent names in all of the wine world. That’s like being interested in guitars and having Jimi Hendrix as your neighbor. Julien made the most of his extraordinary introduction and has forged quite a name of his own. His Fleurie showcases loads of pomegranate and carnation on the approach, with an earthen, savory core that gives way to a zippy finish.
