Region: Zöbing, Kamptal, Austria Grape(s): Grüner Veltliner Winemaker: Gunther Brandl Drinks Best: Now -3 Years
Brandl wines come from the same wine center that the famous Schloss Gobelsburg hails, Zöbing. It is influenced not by the famous eastward Danube River but its southern flowing tributary, the Kamp. The river brings cooler temperatures at night that makes for a livelier rendition of Grüner Veltliner from this small family-run operation. Gunther is a second generation winemaker producing pure and focused wines much like his father. This particular Grüner Veltliner comes from selected vineyards in Zöbing. It shows great minerality, ripe tropical fruits balanced with freshness and a pop of white pepper on the finish.
Pairings: Ginger pork ribs with veggies, jammy egg, and rice
