Region: Wachau, Lower Austria, Austria Grape(s): Grüner Veltliner Winemaker: Martin Mittelbach Drinks Best: Now - 5 Years
This family run winery is named after the monastery of Tegernsee that was given the land in 1002 where the winery sits today. Now in its 6th generation of private ownership under the Mittelbach family, Martin continues the work of his father Franz. They balance modern winemaking techniques with traditional varietals and vineyard management on their steeply terraced vineyards that rise from the shores of the Danube River. The ‘T26’ is a window into the purity and nuance that Martin’s wines are known for. Delicate notes of green apple and citrus mingle on the nose and palate. Mineral notes along with white pepper spice help to craft its refreshing and long finish.
Pairings: White asparagus, grilled with a squeeze of lemon
