Located in the town of Langenlois, about an hour drive northwest from Vienna, Weingut Steininger is a family affair. Karl and Brigatta live on the estate with their daughters - Eva, Anna, and Lisa - and their spouses who together run all aspects of the winery. For the ‘Grand Grü’ bottling the Steiningers select some of their very best plots of Grüner Veltliner that were left on the vine until a late November harvest. The additional hang time plus 10 months aging on the lees in large Acacia barrels lends a richness and weight to the wine that is balanced by flinty minerality and punchy acidity on its beautifully dry and complex finish.
