Nebbiolo from the village of Verduno is known to be made into its lightest, most ethereal expression within the Barolo zone. Fratelli Alessandria’s ‘classico’ Barolo is a blend of fruit from five sites throughout the Verduno comune, each with a slightly different elevation and exposure that contribute slightly different characteristics to the blend. The aromatics are focused on licorice, mint and floral notes, with fruit flavors of red cherry and plum. The tannins are fine-grained. Winemaking here is classic, with long maceration and the maturation taking place in large, old casks.
